Weight tracker [Sep. 16th, 2006|05:22 pm]

It's been a bit quiet on here lately. So how's everyone doing? I've been really lazy in the last couple of months and haven't really been to the gym at all. I plan on changing that starting monday. *crosses fingers*

And I came across this weight tracker. Silly things like this tend to amuse me so I thought I'd share. Unfortunately I couldn't find a 'fitness' equivalent for everyone trying to do the 1.5 miles in 15 minutes but maybe it can be adapted.

(I started at the beginning of June!)

Well, kids - we're three days into the first official week of the challenge, how many of you have been to the gym, yet?

I think it would be a good idea to get some start readings for those of us doing the 1.5 mile in 15 minute aspect, so I would suggest doing a timed session on a treadmill if you can - or a timed jog outside - and see how long it takes you do do a mile and a half at present.

I just did three quarters of a mile in ten minutes (it didn't occur to me until after!) so I'm sort of on track...

How is everyone else doing?

Hi all, my good friend beanie_j gave me this comm to try and run 1.5miles in 15.

I am in the USAF currently and I am running my 1.5miles in 17min. I have been slowly improving every time I test... but its a slow process because of my knees.

I made some banners for the community - feel free to take, but please host them yourselves and link back to the community userinfo, so others can join us.

And for the Hellions:

I do have a slogan-free one, if anyone would like to make any requests. The font isn't one you'd usually find in a Windows package...

i hope the mods don't mind - i thought sharing our fitness backgrounds might be a good way to get to know each other better and keep up our motivation until the july 1 kick-off ^_^

please post your answers as a comment to this entry.

How frequently do you usually work out?

Do you have a gym membership, or take fitness classes?

What are your preferred types of exercises?

Are you a healthy eater?

Have you thought about a strategy to obtain your goals for this challenge?

Anything else relevant you'd like to mention?

Welcome to forwardasone!

This community was created after a conversation between alfirin_kirinki and elendar, who wanted to share their efforts to get fit, keep up with each other's progress and add a little competition to the process. Living in different countries (England and Denmark) this would have proved difficult if it had not been for the wonders of LiveJournal.

So Forward As One, borrowed from the British Infantry motto, came to being.

Our targets are, at present:

  • to increase our fitness to a level which will enable us each to run 1.5 miles in fifteen minutes or less, by Christmas 2006 (or a similar target of the individual's devising);
  • to provide a friendly, informal and mildly competitive community in which we can share our trials and tribulations and motivate each other - and share each other's success;
  • to have fun.

    If you would like to join, comment below with your targets and request membership to the community. You can then be included on statistical tables we will draw up each week from 1st July, to record progress. Once you are approved, make an introduction post, telling us a bit about yourself - your name or nickname, age, location, what you'd like to achieve and what your expectations are. Who knows - some of us may live close enough together that we can meet up to exercise!
